On may 17, 1990, rhonda sue coleman left a senior class meeting and never made it home. Her car was found abandoned beside the highway in hazlehurst, georgia. On may 20, 1990 the deceased body of coleman was discovered in a wooded area in montgomery county, georgia. Rhonda was a lifelong resident of hazlehurst, jeff davis county, georgia. Rhonda was an only child and resided with both her mother and father at the time. An autopsy was completed on rhonda at the gbi crime lab and no cause of death was determined. Rhonda was an active student at jeff davis high school and was last seen dropping off a friend at a store in the city of hazlehurst prior to rhonda heading home around 11:00 p.M. On may 17, 1990.

Sallet (age 37) was last seen on thursday night, june 28, 2001 at approximately 11:00 p.M. When she left her place of employment, cady bag company, located in pearson, atkinson county, georgia. Sallet was wearing a blue short-sleeve flowered shirt and blue jeans. Sallet’s vehicle was located monday, july 2, 2001, at approximately 8:00 p.M. Abandoned on the shoulder of highway 64 in atkinson county. The location of the vehicle was north of pearson and heading away from pearson. The driver’s window was down. The keys were still located in the vehicle and the vehicle had not run out of gasoline. It is believed that foul play was involved in sallet’s disappearance.

On wednesday, september 20, 2006, at approximately 11:17 a.M., the coffee county sheriff’s office responded to a shooting incident at jon’s sport park on thompson drive in douglas, georgia. Deputies arrived on the scene and found the body of doris worrell, age 39, at the scene. She was the victim of an apparent gunshot. Jon worrell, the husband of the victim and manager of jon’s sportpark, left the business at approximately 9:40 a.M. To run errands. His wife remained on the premises engaged in cleaning the business. When her husband returned at approximately 11:15 a.M., he found his wife’s body. On thursday, march 13, 2008, “conspiracy to commit murder” warrants were issued for glidden humberto rodriguez, 39, and brandon eugene cage, 20, both of douglas, in reference to the homicide of doris worrell. Both subjects were arrested in coffee county by coffee county deputies are in custody. The warrants are the result of the on-going investigation being conducted by the coffee county sheriff’s office and the gbi douglas office into the shooting death of doris worrell. At the time of the murder, rodriguez was employed at jon’s sports park. Mary susan humphrey was last seen by friends on friday, may 30, 1980 in valdosta, georgia after leaving grego’s, which was a popular night club in the 80’s, with a male she met that night. Humphrey was a moody air force base airman first class assigned as an air traffic controller who lived off base near walker’s crossing. Humphrey left the bar and went to the man’s apartment off forrest street in valdosta. The man told officers that humphrey wanted to go home around 3:00 a.M. And she left his apartment walking down forrest street near park avenue. Humphrey was a white female, 23 yoa, with red hair, stood 5’3” tall and weighed 128 pounds. Humphrey was originally from lenexa, kansas and was stationed at moody air force base. Humphrey was last seen wearing a long sleeve burgundy in color shirt and dark colored slacks. On sunday, june 15, 1980, humphrey’s body was discovered about 50 feet off a dirt road known as old willacoochee road or more commonly called double bridge road in berrien county by a group of men running their hunting dogs. The investigation led law enforcement at the time to arrest a former boyfriend of humphrey. He was tried and acquitted by a berrien county jury on october 10, 1980. The gbi douglas office is asking for any assistance or information from the public which would lead to the identity of the person(s) responsible for the murder of mary susan humphrey. The humphrey family has remained in touch with investigators and would greatly appreciate getting closure for the loss of their loved one. On friday, january 18, 2013, at approximately 6:36 pm, coffee county 911 received a call reporting a house fire at the residence of larue and edith sheffield, 10817 bowens mill road near broxton, georgia. The fire resulted in extensive damage to the 2-story residence. The initial investigation revealed one of the people who resided at the house had not been located. The coffee county sheriff’s office requested assistance from the douglas gbi office as well as the state fire marshall’s office. The scene was processed throughout the day saturday and the charred remains of a human body were discovered in the fire debris later that night. Utilizing dental records, the victim was identified by the gbi crime lab as edith carole sheffield, w/f, 49 years old. Mrs. Sheffield was last seen shortly before 6:00 pm that day leaving work in douglas, georgia. Autopsy results revealed the death was caused by gunshot, not a result of the fire.
