In july of 2006, as a result of work on a 4-year-old missing person's case by a detective with the decatur police department in consultation with the gbi's intelligence unit, the body was positively identified by the georgia bureau of investigation medical examiner's office as 48-year-old decatur resident christine allen. Allen was a file clerk for an atlanta law firm who was reported missing to decatur police by her roommate on april 19, 2002. The roommate hadn't seen her since april 12 and started to worry. An autopsy determined allen's death to be a homicide.

On april 5, 1998, douglas edgell, founder and president of edgell communications, randolph, new jersey, arrived in atlanta for a business trip. Mr, edgell rented a chevrolet lumina and drove to his hotel room at the wingate inn-peachtree corners, 5800 peachtree industrial boulevard, norcross, ga. Over the next several days, mr. Edgell made numerous sales calls in the atlanta area. On april 9, 1998, mr. Edgell checked out of his hotel room, made two sales calls, then arrived at hartsfield international airport for his trip home. While awaiting his flight, mr. Edgell became ill. He was subsequently treated and transported to south fulton medical center. Mr. Edgell died on april 10, 1998. The autopsy showed that while in atlanta, mr. The roof collapsed within minutes after firefighters arrived. Wideman family vehicles were present; however, none of the widemans could be located. When the fire was extinguished, the badly-burned bodies of tommy joe wideman, age 51, deborah ann wideman, age 48, and their eight months pregnant daughter melissa ann wideman, age 20, were found. Tommy joe was the chief tax assessor for turner county . Deborah owned a bridal shop, the oak tree, in downtown ashburn, and melissa was a student.
