Alan grey had recently moved to cherry hills. On october 31, 1968 at approximately 8:30 p.M. The doorbell rang and his daughter opened the door. Two black men pushed her against the wall and told her not to scream, but she did. This caused mr. Grey to charge down the hall ensuing in a struggle. Mr. Grey was shot several times. Karen lynn nelson left her home on the early morning hours of november 30, 1988 never to be seen or heard from again. On february 6, 1989, her sister debra june trujillo reported karen missing to the arapahoe county sheriff's office. During the follow up investigation, the investigating agency was contacted by the morgan county sheriff's office that they had a body that could be our missing person karen. Morgan county sheriff's office had been alerted on december 3, 1988 when mr. Musgrave and his son terry saw something burning in a field off county 12 miles sw on road f near rosener reservoir and went to investigate. There they located a burning body with the head and hands missing. After an autopsy and further testing it was determined the body was indeed karen nelson. A hard working engineer for the martin marietta company, vernon roe was recently separated from his wife, though they were working on reconciling their relationship. Vernon had just attended a company christmas party that sunday afternoon, december 15, 1974, to celebrate the season and relax with his fellow co-workers. Knowing he had dinner plans with a friend later that evening, vernon left the christmas party early and went home to take care of his dog before heading back out. When vernon failed to show up for the planned dinner, his friend called him repeatedly until about 10:00 p.M. That evening, getting no answer. By the time monday morning came, vernon was a no-show for work. His friend went by vernon's residence to check on him and found the front door unlocked. Lying just inside the front door, shot several times, lay the body of vernon roe. During the investigation, it was determined burglary was not the motive for the killing. A married father of six, albert trevino had just settled on a worker's compensation claim from injuries sustained working as a pipefitter and he kept this substantial amount of case with him while waiting for a car purchase deal to be approved. Trevino rented an automobile for the evening and proceeded to visit a series of bars along the east colfax corridor. Among the establishments trevino patronized that april night, witnesses at each observed him carelessly flashing a large sum of money around. Somewhere along the line that evening, the wrong person took notice. Around 12:30 a.M. On april 5, 1972, trevino entered the newport lounge on east colfax. Once again, albert flashed his money, loudly hailing anyone who would listen. This time, the bar owner watched closely as trevino sat next to a customer well known in the newport lounge. A "Regular customer" with an extensive criminal history, a violent nature who earlier that evening had brutally beaten and threaten with a gun a man who dared confront him about a debt he owed. Admonishing albert to lower his voice, the owner observed his "Regular customer" paying very careful attention to trevino's actions. A half hour later, the "Regular customer" left the bar, followed only a few minutes later by an intoxicated trevino. The owner watched trevino's car drive away, but did not observe where his "Regular customer" disappeared to, or if trevino drove away alone. Early in the morning of april 5, 1972, a school bus driver discovered the body of albert trevino lying on a county road, shot to death. Albert's wallet was also found, with all his paperwork intact, but missing all the cash. His rented car was later discovered parked at stapleton airport. Investigators later learned the newport lounge's "Regular customer" had phoned his wife very early in the morning on april 5, 1972 ordering her to pick him up at stapleton airport. Even stranger to her was the $100 cash he gave her with no explanation, and a fishing trip he took just a few days later, when she knew they were behind on their rent. A short time later, this "Regular customer" and his close associates were arrested for burglaries they committed in grand county, colorado, while the family of albert trevino was left with their grief and unanswered questions. Between 9 p.M. January 15, 1984 and 10 a.M. January 16, 1984, twenty-seven year old bruce bennett, his twenty-six year old wife, debra and their seven year old daughter melissa, were brutally murdered inside their home located in the 16300 block of east center drive. An autopsy found that debra died from blunt force trauma. Additionally, autopsies determined that bruce and melissa died from blunt force trauma as well as sharp force injuries, consistent with a knife. Evidence at the scene indicated that melissa had been sexually assaulted. A second child, the bennett's three year old daughter, was found alive inside the residence suffering from blunt force trauma. On july 11, 1993 officers responded to 13636 east 14th avenue regarding a small child left alone in a car. When officers arrived they noticed blood dripping from the trunk of the car. Upon opening it, they discovered the body of tyrone bennett. He had been beaten to death with an unknown object. Reportedly missing from the tyrone's vehicle were his cell phone, a gun, and drugs. On december 23, 1995 officers were called to the coal creek arena and rodeo grounds. A young black male was found at the back of the rodeo grounds with numerous gunshot wounds. The arapahoe county coroner's office responded and determined the victim died between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00 a.M. The victim was identified five days later as mr. Craig bridges by use of fingerprints and associated to the address of 4201 don tomaso drive, los angeles, ca. It was believed that mr. Bridges was a crip gang member. Investigation led detectives to the mother of mr. Bridges, who advised she had put her son on a plane from the los angeles airport and thought he was flying to kansas city, missouri. She advised during her son's stay out of state, he called and gave her a telephone number and an extension number where she could reach him in case of an emergency. Investigation revealed mr. Bridges had been staying at the travelers motel, 14200 e. 6th avenue with a black male, who had given a california's driver's license as identification. The license may have been counterfeit. Also staying in the room with mr. Bridges was a black female with blonde hair. Her identity was not established. On june 29, 1984 at 4:14 a.M., james broughman, his wife and two small children were living in the manor house motel. The suspect gained entry into their apartment through a bathroom window located approximately 5 feet off the ground. After entering the window, the suspect was in the process of ransacking through the wallet and other items when he was confronted by james broughman. His wife and two small children awoke during the struggle and saw james struggling with a male and then heard the gunshot that ultimately killed him. The suspect then exited the motel room through the kitchenette window. The investigation showed that another motel room had been burglarized in a very similar manner just prior to the incident in which the james broughman was murdered. On april 16, 2006 at 9:57 p.M., officers responded to 17103 east ohio place on a report of one shot fired and a person moaning. Officers found renauldo cadogan deceased inside the partially open door to apt #105, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. No eyewitnesses were located during a canvass. Inside the apartment near the front door was a gold colored bag that contained a number of small ziploc baggies. The baggies smelled strongly of marijuana, but they were empty, except for what appeared to be some residue. The investigation revealed that the victim sold marijuana and was heard arguing on his cell phone with an unknown party over the cost of three pounds of marijuana. On august 5, 2003, officers responded to 11205 east 14th avenue on the report of numerous shots being fired. Officers found eliseo cano-pacheco and consuelo hernandez serrano had been shot in their residence. Both were transported to the hospital and later died as a result of their gunshot wounds. A lone gunman approached the residence and fired multiple rounds through the front door. Consuelo hernandez serrano had spoken with her mother in mexico the same night of the homicide and told her mother she thought family members were going to kill her. There seems to have been some type of family feud going on and consuelo hernandez serrano was caught in the middle. Between 10/16/81 7:15 a.M. And 10/17/81 10:30 a.M., dale curtis was shot with his own gun and three other shots were found to have been fired inside the residence. On august 4, 1986 the victim, julian domenico was found dead in his bed. He had multiple stab wounds. The victim had been at shagnasty's (a bar) located in the 400 block of havana street, the night before his death and had left with a white male. Subsequently the subject left the state. The subject had been employed in the metro area in a meat rending plant and gave no notice when he left. The victim was found on the floor of the living room and may have been there three to four days. The victim had apparently been stabbed to death. Investigation revealed the victim lived an alternative lifestyle, was apparently an alcoholic and user of crack cocaine. He had prior employment at a homeless shelter and took in numerous transients at his apartment. A suspect was determined but was excluded as he had been placed at the washington house at the time. On july 26, 1986, eddie ford returned home from work and parked in the alley. He walked up to the back porch of his residence where a black male, 13 to 20 years of age, 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, walked up to him and fired three shots. Eddie died on his back porch from three gunshot wounds. The victim was divorced from his wife at the time of the death. Approximately two weeks prior to the homicide, someone fired shots at the victim in front of his residence. Bullets recovered at the scene were a .32 caliber. A bullet was located from the previous shooting which the victim did not report to the police. This was a .32 caliber bullet matching the others. The victim told some of his friends about the incident and stated he knew who had fired the first time. He never notified the police or told anyone the name of the person suspected of shooting at him the first time. The suspect(s) responsible for the death of eddie ford have yet to be identified. On april 8, 1997, officers responded to 1627 geneva street regarding a fire. Arson investigators advised the victim possibly jumped to his death from his bedroom window. The fire appeared to have been deliberately set. Numerous interviews were conducted with residents, polygraph examinations were administered to the current and previous owner of the apartment building and both individuals passed the polygraph. On april 15, 1980 at 7:20 p.M., aurora police officers responded to the 1900 block of dallas street and found rolly gonzales deceased on the couch. The victim had apparently died from asphyxiation due to strangulation. The victim carried a large amount of money with him to pay the rent and this may have been seen by several other individuals in the area.
