At approximately 3:18 a.M., officers from west precinct responded to a shot spotter call at 2010 48th place southwest. Officers arrived and observed a male victim lying on the ground next to a car with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the upper extremities. Officers also observed the identified victim, johnathan jackson unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Birmingham fire and rescue responded to the scene and both victims were pronounced deceased. There are limited details in this investigation. There are no suspects in custody. At approximately 10:55 p.M., north precinct officers responded to a call of a single vehicle collision on interstate 65 (I-65) north and 32nd avenue exit. While en route, the call was updated to a person shot.When officers arrived on the scene, they observed the victim in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.Birmingham fire and rescue services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to uab hospital. Shortly after arrival, the victim was pronounced deceased by uab medical staff.The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was traveling on I-65 north when shots were fired into his vehicle, wounding the victim. Construction workers heard shots being fired, and shortly after the vehicle crashed into the highway’s concrete media

At around 4:50 p.M., west precinct officers were dispatched to a juvenile shot call in the 1300 block of pike road.Officers arrived on the scene and then entered an alleyway when they discovered a 12-year-old boy suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to children’s hospital with life-threatening injuries. Children’s hospital staff pronounced the victim deceased.The preliminary investigation has revealed the victim was at a family friend’s house and was handling a firearm when he may have accidentally shot himself.Currently, we do not believe someone else shot the victim.

The call was updated to two people shot.Officers arrived on the scene and then entered the backyard of a residence when they observed the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and then transported both victims to uab hospital with life-threatening injuries. Uab hospital staff pronounced both victims deceased.The preliminary investigation revealed both victims were at a residence when an unknown suspect(s) fired shots at them. We believe at least one of the victims was targeted.

At approximately 8:09 p.M., officers from the west precinct responded to a call of a person shot. Upon arrival officer observed a vehicle that collided into a residence. Further investigation revealed a male unresponsive in the passenger seat suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on the scene. Officer were also alerted of a person down at the corner of 57th street and avenue p. It was determined he was wounded by gunfire and succumb to his injuries as well. The preliminary investigation suggests both victims were inside the same vehicle when they were shot. Detectives believe the second victim ran from the location and collapsed at 57th street and ave p. Details of what lead to this incident are under investigation. There are no suspects in custody. Updates will be provided as this case develops.

At approximately 7:45 pm, west precinct officers were dispatched to interstate 59 south just after the arkadelphia road on-ramp on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and observed a white 2008 ford edge that had collided into the median. Officers observed the driver suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was traveling from the “downtown area” prior to the shooting. Detectives are asking if anyone was traveling along this route between 7:15 pm – 7:45 pm that has a dashcam to please contact us directly.
