At approximately 10:55 p.M., north precinct officers responded to a call of a single vehicle collision on interstate 65 (I-65) north and 32nd avenue exit. While en route, the call was updated to a person shot.When officers arrived on the scene, they observed the victim in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.Birmingham fire and rescue services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to uab hospital. Shortly after arrival, the victim was pronounced deceased by uab medical staff.The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was traveling on I-65 north when shots were fired into his vehicle, wounding the victim. Construction workers heard shots being fired, and shortly after the vehicle crashed into the highway’s concrete media

South precinct officers were responding to a call of a deceased person on the side of the road at 17th street sw and laurel avenue.When officers arrived on the scene, they observed the victim lying unresponsive on the side of the road, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.Birmingham fire and rescue services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.The preliminary investigation suggests that a citizen observed the victim lying on the side of the road and called 911 emergency services.The victim was reported missing on sunday, february 25, 2024, by a family member.

At approximately 11 pm, west precinct officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of 48th street ensley on report of a shot spotter alert. The call was updated to two people shot.Officers arrived on the scene and then entered the backyard of a residence when they observed the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and then transported both victims to uab hospital with life-threatening injuries. Uab hospital staff pronounced both victims deceased.The preliminary investigation revealed both victims were at a residence when an unknown suspect(s) fired shots at them. We believe at least one of the victims was targeted.

At approximately 7:45 pm, west precinct officers were dispatched to interstate 59 south just after the arkadelphia road on-ramp on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and observed a white 2008 ford edge that had collided into the median. Officers observed the driver suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was traveling from the “downtown area” prior to the shooting. Detectives are asking if anyone was traveling along this route between 7:15 pm – 7:45 pm that has a dashcam to please contact us directly.

At approximately 7:00 p.M., officers from east precinct observed a pick up truck traveling on the wrong side of the road in the 9100 block of parkway east. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the suspect stopped at tienda y taqueria mexican restaurant in the 8500 block of 1st avenue north. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled inside the restaurant. Officers pursued the suspect into the restaurant. The suspect began to throw glass bottles at the officers. The officers responded by deploying their conducted electrical weapons (tasers) at the suspect. A physical altercations ensued and the suspect gained control of one of the officer’s tasers. During the confrontation officers discharged their firearms striking the suspect. The suspect continued to fight officers before ultimately collapsing
