At approximately 10:07 am, west precinct officers were responding to a call of a person shot in the 1000 block of tin mill road.Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult male victim unresponsive, inside of a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.Birmingham fire and rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.The preliminary investigation suggests family members had not heard from the victim since yesterday, august 12, 2023, around noontime. The family members became concerned and began searching for the victim. A family member located the victim’s vehicle parked at the incident location in the parking lot. When the family member approached the vehicle, they observed the victim inside, suffering from a gunshot wound and called the police.

At 8:30 am, north precinct officers were dispatched to a report of two firefighters shot at fire station # 9.Officers arrived on the scene when they learned two firefighters had been shot inside fire station # 9.Birmingham fire and rescue (bfr) personnel transported the two injured firefighters to a local area hospital. They both suffered serious injuries.One of the firefighters, jordan melton, succumbed to his injuries on monday, july 17, 2023.The preliminary investigation has revealed that an unknown suspect(s) shot the two firefighters while they were inside fire station # 9. The shooting appears to have taken place near the bay doors.

At approximately 8:50 pm, west precinct officers were dispatched to a shot spotter alert call in the 900 block of 25th street southwest.Officers arrived on the scene and observed jarvis conley jr. Lying next to a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.Officers observed an adult female in the area suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.Birmingham fire and rescue (bfr) personnel arrived on the scene and then pronounced jarvis conley jr. Deceased.Bfr transported the adult female victim to a local area hospital; she suffered serious injuries.The preliminary investigation suggests the gunshot victims went to the area and then were involved in a verbal argument with a party they knew. Shots were fired.There was a heavy police presence on the scene; officers believed the suspect was still in the area. Officers were able to talk a person of interest into coming outside of a residence. The person of interest was taken into custody free of incident. The person of interest was transported to bpd headquarters where he will be interviewed by homicide detectives. Omicide detectives will present case information to the jefferson county district attorney’s office who will then decide whether criminal charges should be filed.

At approximately 8:45 pm, south precinct officers were dispatched to the 200 block of 3rd avenue southwest on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and entered an apartment complex parking lot when they observed two adult males lying unresponsive suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham fire and rescue (bfr) personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. Bfr transported a second male to uab hospital with life-threatening- injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests there was large altercation the parking lot when multiple individuals began firing at one another. Shot spotter registered over twenty rounds fired.

At approximately 7:45 pm, birmingham 9-1-1 received a call regarding an unresponsive female at 71st street and 1st avenue north. Upon arrival, east precinct officers responded to the location and observed ms. Johnson suffering from an unknown injury. Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived at the scene and attempted cpr to no avail. She was pronounced deceased on the scene. A homicide detective and evidence technician arrived at the scene of what was believed to be an unclassified death at the time.The jefferson county medical examiner’s office contacted the birmingham police department to advise the victim’s death should be classified as a homicide. Currently, there is no one in custody.

At around 7:10 pm, west precinct officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of 27th street ensley on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene when they observed an adult male lying unresponsive outside on a set of stairs. Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was part of a crew of workers who were at a residence remodeling a residence. Unknown suspects forcefully entered the residence; we believe the victim was shot during a robbery. No other workers were injured.
